Operating Principle
The magnetostrictive level transmitter utilizes the principle of magnetostrictive wire (waveguide wire) to measure the liquid level. The probe contains a magnetostrictive wire made of non-magnetic stainless steel tube, effectively protecting the waveguide wire. During operation, the pulse generator in the electronics compartment emits an initial pulse, which generates a rotating magnetic field as it travels through the waveguide wire. When this magnetic field encounters the permanent magnetic field in the float, it induces a magnetostrictive effect, causing the waveguide wire to twist and generate a constant-speed mechanical wave. This mechanical wave propagates in two directions, with part of it absorbed by the damper and the other part sensed by the pickup mechanism and converted into electrical pulses. The pickup mechanism then calculates the time difference between pulses, accurately measuring the height of the liquid level being measured.
